American Literature

American literature has different definitions depending on the person defining it. It depends on what the person knows and what they choose to believe. The google definition of American literature means written work that was done in America, not by an American but in America. Therefore, any written work done in America can be considered American Literature. Thus, Paul Simon's album Graceland is considered American Literature. Music is a combination of sounds and words, words are either written down or thought of, when combined with emotions it suddenly because more. In my English class we discussed whether Paul Simon's album Graceland was American Literature and what made it American Literature. Paul Simon's album Graceland was instantly more special at the time, still is today, because of how he chose to do the album and what he chose to sing about. Paul Simon decided to go to Graceland which inevitably made the album more meaningful. The class decided that it was written work. I decided that it was art. Music=Art.
